Zebbie (AKA Jamey Dekofsky) is the drummer & dancehall vocalist for Detour Posse. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he grew up around music. At 8 years old, he started on guitar & switched to drums by the age of 9. By the time he was 11, Zebbie was already performing in the Tony Columbia percussion ensemble & playing school dances & auditoriums.
By 1990, he began to work diligently at music & began touring and performing with renowned reggae artist such as Ras Michael & U Roy. In 1996, he met Dakeye and together they founded the Detour Posse. They have since gone on to release a full length album "Chariot in the Sky". And they've done a lot of work backing up & touring with the biggest names Reggae music. Detour Posse has performed at huge venues including the Greek Theater, Long Beach Arena and the Santa Barbara County Bowl as well as at international festivals & concerts.
As a vocalist, Zebbie's style has been compared to likes of Shaggy & Buju Banton, but as a drummer/percussionist he has transcended any restrictions of style. He has been a sought after studio session player over the years, working with producers such as Ashley Ingram & Randy Jackson, record companies such as MCA, Columbia, A&M, and even done tracks for Grammy winning, songwriter extraordinnare, Dianne Warren. An all-around performer, Zebbie also hopes to pursue an acting career & he has had parts in T.V. Shows such as Showtime's "Linc's" & NB.C. Miniseries "The 60's." |
